La muerte como motivo y red intermedial en Alejo Carpentier

Abstract

Se analiza la transformación de una nota manuscrita preparatoria de Carpentier en la versión definitiva de La consagración de la primavera, y el funcionamiento característico del sistema descriptivo carpenteriano, llamado por la autora del artículo “nexos de convergencia artística”. Dicho sistema consiste en construir en torno de un motivo particular, en este caso el de la muerte, una red intermedial que remite a obras de diversas artes y las disemina en la narración para nutrir y estructurar el relato.

This paper analyzes the transformation of Carpentier’s preliminary handwritten note into its final form as La consagración de la primavera, as well as the characteristic operation of the novelist’s descriptive system, called “nexus of artistic convergence” by the author. This system consists of the weaving of an intermedial network of references to different art works based on a specific motif —death in this case— and then the insertion of the references throughout the narrative to enrich and configure the story.
