Abstract

As the founder and top thinker in theosophical vitalism at the beginning of the 20th century, Alberto Masferrer was the intellectual with the most influence on Central American social and political thinking, which resulted in the political project of unionism and in a social rights decalogue entitled The vital minimum. Masferrer’s thinking exhibits the hybridization of various currents: vitalism, Fabian socialism, hinduist and theosophical currents, and especially anarchism, a little known inclination of his thinking. This is why his ideas are still current in the 21st century.
