dc.description.abstract | This paper shows how the detective novel has undergone a series of transformation so as to adapt to different contexts and time frames. There is enough evidence supporting this conclusion as the neo-detective novel has been present in several Latin American countries from the early 70’s onwards. Summarizing the main features of the Latin American neo-detective novel, the author attempts to demonstrate that changes made to the narrative formulas of the genre, which modify the preceding historical sub-genres both in the ethics and aesthetics realms, make it an authentic and independent expression in its own right.
