Abstract

This article makes a critical reflection on the events that occurred that September 11, 2001 and its global consequences at three levels of appreciation. In the first place, how to understand and understand, from a historical and totalizing perspective, the events of September 11 in the United States? A good critical start would be to ask: why did this happen? Indeed, what is fundamental and significant now is not looking for who was responsible but what the causes that originate this type of insane acts have been or are. What causes them? Why do they manifest like this? Ultimately, what is terrorism? A second general reflection would be: why in the United States? Why were such specific and symbolic targets as the very essence of the American Way of Life and American Power attacked? Finally, what followed after 9/11? Where we go? Barbarism or civilization? Tolerance and respect for others or annihilating those who are different?
